Ultrasonic metal welding is appropriate for the assembly of similar and dissimilar non-ferrous metals.

AMTEC also offers the following different methods:

From a metallurgical point of view, ultrasonic metal welding must be classed as welding without preheating. The oxide skin is broken by applying intense friction to the weld and the two parts are then pressed together simultaneously. These processes bring the two materials into such close contact that the atomic bonding forces are able to take effect. The relatively slight rise in temperature lies well below melting point and plays no essential part in the weld.

The primary advantage of this welding technique is that it provides for exceptionally short welding times, no filler metals requirements, very low electrical contact resistance and helium-tight welds. Surfaces that are suitable for this type of welding are limited to small areas and restricted to points, line or circular weld patterns.
